Tom and Denise are the power couple behind TD Renovations! We do all the work ourselves without middlemen. With over 21 years of experience working with finishing contractors, we have the skills to complete projects reliably on-time. As an insured member of the Rutherford County Home Builders Association, we’re happy to work directly for homeowners or in cooperation with property managers and developers. Although our special expertise is custom tile installation, we’re doing an increasing number of whole kitchen remodels as well as tub-shower conversions and bathroom makeovers. As we travel around North and South Carolina, we’re happy to expand our network of contacts.
Loving the Blue Ridge Mountains
When we aren’t working on our own property, we go hiking to enjoy the natural landscape of North Carolina. DuPont State Forest and Little Bradley Falls have some of our favorite views. Two of our favorite local restaurants are The Olive Tree (in downtown Rutherfordton) and Strawberry Hill (in Chesnee, SC). Both restaurants serve quesadillas with a fun twist, but we’ve enjoyed all the meals we’ve tried so far. We also enjoy getting restaurant tips from homeowners and trying new places. If you didn’t already know, Granny B’s has the best donuts in the area. When we go shopping for deals on unique furniture, you might see us in any of the secondhand stores and thrift shops of Landrum, Forest City, or Charlotte.
Loving Our Work in Remodeling
One of our favorite shows is “Love It or List It” on HGTV. All the renovation TV shows seem to have unlimited budgets, so it’s not always “reality” television, but the people on those shows are fascinating. We enjoy “Love It or List It” because of the final choice presented to real people: would you rather stay in your renovated home or sell it? It’s fascinating how many people choose to stay in their own homes, even after the show’s upgrades have increased their resale value. Ideally, that’s what we want to provide for homeowners. A remodeled bathroom is an opportunity to fall in love with your property all over again. Even if you’re planning to “List It,” a finishing contractor can bring out the best qualities in your property.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters…” Colossians 3:23 (NIV)
After working in a home for developmentally delayed adults, we have a different perspective on the work-life balance. We’ve been blessed to have the freedom to choose our own path, and we believe that any type of work (from assisted living and church ministry to remodeling) can be used to build God’s kingdom. The Bible reminds us that, no matter who cuts the check, our work is ultimately serving a higher purpose. In practical terms, this biblical perspective means that we’re dedicated to honesty, providing quality work for a fair price.
